The astronomical symbol for Venus is the same as that used in biology for the female sex: a circle with a small cross beneath. The Venus symbol also represents femininity, and in Western alchemy stood for the metal copper. Polished copper has been used for mirrors from antiquity, and the symbol for Venus has sometimes been understood to stand for the mirror of the Goddess.
The pentagram of Venus is the path that Venus makes as observed from Earth. Successive inferior conjunctions of Venus repeat very near a 13:8 orbital resonance (Earth orbits 8 times for every 13 orbits of Venus), shifting 144° upon sequential inferior conjunctions. The resonance 13:8 ratio is approximate. 8/13 is approximately 0.615385 while Venus orbits the Sun in 0.615187 year.

As one of the brightest objects in the sky, Venus has been a major fixture in human culture for as long as records have existed. It has been made sacred to gods of many cultures, and has been a prime inspiration for writers and poets as the morning star and evening star.
Venus is a primary feature of the night sky, and so has been of remarkable importance in mythology, astrology and fiction throughout history and in different cultures. Classical poets such as Homer, Sappho, Ovid and Virgil spoke of the star and its light. Poets such as William Blake, Robert Frost, Alfred Lord Tennyson and William Wordsworth wrote odes to it.
In astrology, Venus is the planet that rules and affects our sentiments, what we value, and the pleasure we take in life. And here is where my project found its basement.

When I decided to dive deeper in astrology to possibly find answers about myself and the way I perceive reality, I asked my mother to show me the natal chart she made when I was born. I discovered all my placements and found out my Venus is in Leo. Boom! Relationships have always had a huge impact in my life and suddenly I had a clearer view on why that was. When faced with certain explanations and knowledge about myself, I couldn’t turn back. I almost felt powerless but at the same time completely supported and connected to the whole, because if the planets positions at the time and place of my birth, could influence my personality and way of being so much (and the chart clearly shows that), well then imagine the energies that are involved in every movement and decision of our life.
Anyway, I wanted to know more about the archetypal figure of Venus and started a long journey through different ages, cultures and symbols that built the way we perceive this Goddess/energy and then incorporated these symbologies and meanings into my works.
